ADVENTURERS IN MUSIC
Brass Instrument players from bands from all over Cornwall and the South West are invited to to take part in “Adventurers in Music - The Big Rehearsal” as part of BBC Music Nation on Sunday 4th March at Heartlands in Pool from 10.00 – 16.00.
Brass players and brass bands of all ages and skills levels will be invited to a Scratch rehearsal and performance of a new work for Brass Bands and voices entitled “Adventurers in Music” written by Cornish composer Simon Dobson (nominee for the 2011 BASCA award) and writer Jane Pugh.
The new work written in seven episodes has been commissioned by the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2012, Heartlands will transform 19 acres of Cornish World Heritage Site mining landscape into a unique destination which includes history and geology exhibitions, art studios, landscaped park and gardens, restaurant, sustainable apartments and the biggest adventure playground in Cornwall. The Adventurers in Music event will be an exclusive preview of Heartlands in advance of the formal opening of this iconic new attraction to the public, please visit www.heartlandscornwall.com for more information.
Registration will begin at 10.a.m and sessions led by members of the BBC Concert Orchestra will take place in the morning and afternoon culminating in a mini-performance of the new work in the early afternoon.
