We are just putting the finishing touches to another tumultuous mix of superb live performances for the autumn, which is shaping up to be our biggest season to date, with 87 shows being promoted in 47 communities throughout Cornwall. We’re delighted to welcome brand new venues in Millbrook, Porthtowan, Portreath, Ruan Minor and St Agnes, who are all promoting shows for the first time this autumn.

There is plenty of diversity in the programme, so there is something to suit everyone, whatever tickles your fancy! The season kicks off on 3rd September with another chance to see the hilarious Charity Shop Cabaret, which has been busy performing all round the country to other rural touring schemes and has introduced brand new audiences to the inimitable Cornish talent of Trifle Gathering Productions.

Other Cornish performers this season include music as diverse as indie rock & pop from The Hitchcock Rules, Cornish folk from Dalla, thumping Salsa rhythms from Kabasa, and Duchy Opera’s take on Franz Lehar’s ‘The Merry Widow’! John Brolly continues to perform his successful storytelling show, ‘Out of the Box’ and Craig Johnson takes a break from Kneehigh’s Asylum to tour two shows – ‘Skillywidden’, and brand new for 2010 ‘Universarama’! Lastly, Cornish dance and theatre is represented by Carn to Cove favourites Bish Bash Bosh, C-Scape and Miracle Theatre.

As well as all this homegrown talent, we are also excited to be able to introduce Cornish audiences to different and unique performances from outside of the county. The virtuoso guitarist Esteban Antonio will play his unique HaShem - a guitar with three fretboards which has been made especially for him in Cornwall. More music will be on offer with Carn to Cove favourites Hoover the Dog making a welcome return to the scheme after a short break, as well as Michael Lunts performing his Chopin show ‘The Last Ballade’ and newcomers Philip Clouts Quartet will play their mix of jazz, funk and world music. From further afield, Mamane Barka, who is from a family of Nigerian nomads will play desert blues on his Biram – a 5 stringed harp. If you would like the chance to put on your dancing shoes, Claudia Caolin will create a event dedicated to traditional Flamenco music, song and dance in Callington, and the TG Collective will play a glorious combination of gypsy hotclub, flamenco, jazz and contemporary classical music.

In theatrical terms we have a mix of comedy and magic from Ian Keable who has ‘Nothing Up My Sleeve’ and for children there is Puppetcraft’s new show ‘A Selfish Giant’ by Oscar Wilde and Shanty Theatre present a show telling the story of the Black Death ‘A Rat’s Tale’. Gonzo Moose make their debut on Carn to Cove with a show called ‘Is That a Bolt in Your Neck? As do Multi Story Theatre Company, with their show ‘Sealskin’.

Finally, if film is more your cup of tea, we have some archive film nights from the Independent Cinema Office, with Brit Chic and Bombs at Teatime.

Full details of all these shows, with dates and venues will come soon, so keep checking back.
